Antler Ridge

Antler Ridge Ranch is located in North Central San Saba County, about halfway between San Saba and Richland Springs near Algerita. This is about a 20-minute drive from San Saba. Access is via a private road easement accessed from County Road 232. The location is secluded and private being surrounded by larger ranches.

The land offers a diverse variety. The are pastures on about half and the sandstone ridge covers the other half. The pastures have great grass and appear to have been cultivated in the old days. Mesquites are slowly moving in so this area will eventually have more cover. Or if manicured, these pastures could produce excellent grazing or planted crop. The ridge offers good views and elevation change with lots of Bee Brush and native plants. Oaks are scattered throughout this part of the ranch and some larger Mesquites also. Excellent habitat for deer and wildlife.

There are several patches of native sunflowers that attract dove. There is much sign of wildlife on this ranch with abundant deer and hog indications. There has been minimal hunting pressure. There are three very strong ponds on the property still holding excellent water at the end of summer. The ranch is traversed by Elm Branch which is seasonal but could offer an excellent opportunity to construct a small lake if desired.

There are no improvements or infrastructure. An old dilapidated barn and homestead site indicate signs of early inhabitants. An old cistern indicates there may have been water at one time but a new well will be needed. Electricity is nearby and believed available.
